I’m a progressive candidate running to represent District 26 in the Tennessee House of Representatives. Here’s what else you should know:
- I’m a native Tennessean. Raised in Memphis, schooled in Knoxville (GBO!), married a guy from Nashville, lived in Chattanooga since 1997. This is home. This is personal.
- I come from a military family. I know what patriotism looks like. It’s about upholding our Constitution and democratic ideals—not just reciting a pledge.
- I’m a product of Catholic schools. I know what Jesus preached. It’s about caring about and for each other—not just reciting prayers.
- I’m a journalist and editor. I do a lot of research and talk to a lot of knowledgeable people before I write a magazine article. Our laws should be written with that same level of care.
- I’ve got three daughters. I trust them to make decisions about their own bodies. I trust your daughters too.
- I was a stay-at-home, work-from-home mom. I know the struggle and how to juggle. I once interviewed Sen. Lamar Alexander on a corded phone while a kid was trying to put a hamster down my back. It wasn’t even my kid.
- I’m not a career politician. I don’t want personal power. I want our government to work for all Tennesseans, not just the wealthy few.
- I’m an advocate for people. I’ll go to bat for anyone who needs my help.
- I’m honest and ethical. Let’s just say that honesty and ethics are in short supply in the Tennessee General Assembly.
- I’m not afraid to speak my mind. I guess that’s obvious.
